Can you help me please...I've traced my family back to my G.G.Grandfather Benjamin Bunce and have birth and marriage certificates which all tie up...the problem is...how can I get back any further than 1837 ?! Benjamin married Elizabeth Deards in 1839 but I cannot find where he was born etc. The only Benjamin I can find (who's Father was William) was born in Beedon Berks, but how can I prove this please, is it a case of visiting churches now ? I'd welcome your advise, thanks. |

Sorry, but you can't possibly have a birth cert for anyone born before July 1837 |

A very big thank you everyone for your trouble, you have the same Benjamin as me. In the 1841 census he's living in London but it doesn't say where he was born. In the 1851 census it says he was born in Beedon Berks. I think Astra's reply is interesting but wonder what my next step is. Should I get in touch with Berkshire archives? Sorry for sounding lost and thanks again. |

Sorry Flick, meant to reply to you, no, I don't have any certs befor 1837, only wish I had. On Benjamin's marriage cert. of 1839 it gives his father as William Bunce anhis occupation as a labourer. Oh, and William was deceased poor chap! |

Thank you Mike. I found a William Bunce married to a Sarah Cook also a William married to a Sarah Gold. Both in Berks and around the same time. Confusing isn't it. |
