Thank you so much everyone for your help. It is very much appreciated. I do have the information rootgatherer gave, but because there were so many other George Banwells listed as being born around the same time both in Somerset and Wales I could not work out which one was the one I needed. Hopefully this will give me the grounding I need to take it further. And thankyou for explaining what all the reference numbers mean. Best Wishes, Dee.

You would quote these when ordering the certificate from the GRO. The certificates costs £9.25 from them but will be more expensive if you order elsewhere.

Thank you so much everyone, I need to sift through and try to understand what all the terminology means. Mike, Yes, Florence did re-marry in 1924 to William Johns. Are the numbers and letters after their names refer to the index of the certificates I need? I don't understand what all these numbers refer to from member namedSalve. Hi, I hope this is the right medium to ask my question. I seem to be searching in vain to locate any further information on my grandfather George Banwell of Cardiff, and, or, Florence Jane Banwell,( nee Carter), his wife. Florence records her father as John Carter. So far, I have managed to find his death record and probate in which he left his estate to Florence Jane Banwell my grandmother,(nee Carter). He died in 1921, aged 38, in Cardiff, Wales. I can't understand why I can't find anything as apparently he either owned or co-owned the Cardiff Dairy Company. I have found an old photograph dated 1927 entitled 'Charles Banwell, Prop. Cardiff Dairy Company, Atlas Road.' Atlas Road is listed as the last address of my grandfather George. I have contacted the Cardiff Central Library archives but they have nothing in their catalogues for any Banwell except that photograph. George and Florence had 4 children. John, Ethel, Dorothy and Arthur. Arthur did not survive infancy apparently. I know Dorothy was born in 1917 in Atlas Road. Any knowledge or information on George or Florence, who I also cannot seem to find any history on, (apart from knowing she married George and had the children). would be warmly welcomed. Thankyou. Sorry if I've rambled a bit
