Well done Andy! If Charles gave his name in an Irish accent to the enumerator it may well have been written down phonetically.

It all looks quite straight forward to me as Ellen and Eleanor is very often interchangeable.

Ellen/Eleanor Forsyth's mother may have remarried a Telford at some time, or Ellen(or) may have been born Telford and married a Forsyth before marrying Charles Fee.

Thats what I've been trying to work out MarieCeleste, did she marry someone & when cos I can't see anything.

My grandmother was Agnes Mole Doyle. I know she was born in South Shields. I've just looked at the 1911 and 1901 and she wasn't there for those. I wonder if it's on my great grandparents marriage cert which will need some digging out. My father told me he was born Tyne Dock area but for all the years since I was born we went to visit his parents in Harton.

As I understand it, my great grandmother ran a boarding house for seamen and my grandmother helped. My great grandfather was a sailor and I wonder if my grandmother met my grandfather that way. He was a Shetlander in the Merchant Navy sailing out of Shields.
