Could anyone help me to find DESCENDANTS and death dates of 2 brothers- William John Walton Ritson born 1886 and Eric James Ritson born 1887 both born Morwell, Victoria. Parents were William Harbottle Ritson and Christina McMillan and these were the only children they had. (William died 1890)

I had a quick look on Ancestry Elizabeth, found a few things ,not a lot though.

William John Walton Ritson died in Fitzroy, Victoria,in 1960.Australian Death Index 1787-1985, Reg.no.1264.

Marriage of Eric James Ritson-Tasmania,1912.Spouse-Clara Burgoyne.
Australian Marriage Index 1787-1949 Page .no. 1089.( I couldn't find his death, but it may be further along in the results. Will keep looking.)

There were other Ritsons there, but none seemed to be from your lot.

I will search the records, maybe the Electoral Rolls will give some clues.

Thanks, Tony,
I have found in Aust marriage index a John William Walton Ritson married to an Annie Jane Aikman in Tasmania 1908. Could be same person with names reverted (my father on birth index has his Christian names reverted). If so, must have returned to Fitzroy later. I also found an Eric James Ritson on electoral rolls in Tasmania in 1914 and1922 and marriage to a Clara Burgoyne in 1912.
I wonder if these are the 2 men I am looking for?

Thanks, MEgirl.
I don't know how to find out if these are the 2 men I am looking for. These 2 men are the sons of my grandfather's only brother who survived childhood. Their children could possibly still be alive and I would love to contact them. Where do you suggest I look next?

Thanks so much Tony.
This at least proves the Eric in Tasmania is the correct one, so possibly his brother lived there for a while too. I am at least one step further thanks to you and MEGirl. I wonder if the Trustees Company were looking for him as his mother Christina had died recently? ( I don't have the date she died).
Any other info would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, also thanks to Margot. With your latest info, Tony it now seems almost certain that the John William Walton Ritson is the same person as William John Walton Ritson as they both married Annie Jane. I wonder if they had any more children- Phyllis was born 23 years after they married.

Eric James RITSON appears to be a mystery man!!

Will keep checking through various Cemetery's for you, but at the moment cant see anything conclusive.
Its also a possible he left the country.....( perhaps )
New Zealand...or?

Elizabeth. If you purchase the death cert of Wiliam John Walton RITSON...it will/should have the names of any children living and deceased on his death cert, and their ages at the time of their fathers death in 1960

Thanks, Margot. You've gone to a lot of troule to help me. I really appreciate it. I suspect Eric may have left his family, unfortunately, and his son had to care for his mother.
