If he were indeed born in 1915, and still in the Manchester area, there are these:
Births Jun 1915
Buckley William T Jackson Prestwich 8d 530
Births Sep 1915
Buckley William McDonald W.Derby 8b 458
Births Dec 1915
BUCKLEY William Wilson Salford 8d 2
BUCKLEY William R Foreman Prestwich 8d 574

How did you find out the birth year- is it likely to be accurate?
Have you tried contacting all those with William Buckley from Manchester area in their trees using the search boxes above?
Thanks

Actually, Desmond, if you know of his marriages, do you know whom he married and where/when, this may not be appropriate for the boards (if they are living or the family would not want it discussed on the internet) ..... but if you have the details of the marriages you could order the certificates to see whether he stated his age and father's name hopefully accurately.

If you don't have those details go ahead and send me a private message (click on my name) and I will look them up for you

I think Desmond may be related to one of the children (and William is on the birth certificate or the mother passed on info about him) and may not want to put their details on the board ....................... ?

to find out what the size of the field is search for the name at freebmd

http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl

select county Lancashire and make the date range 1905 to 1920

You will see that without more information your search as it now stands is almost certainly doomed to failure, there were well over 100 William Buckleys born in Lancashire in those 15 years, so the odds are well against him being that one born in 1904.

If he happened to have a middle name and it was recorded on any of his children's birth certificates ...

Are you dating his birth based on his children's births, for instance he couldn't have been born later than 1920 if he had a child in 1937 ?
