Hi all

Could anyone one advise me please on best place to join to look for army records I have John William E Sullivan born c 1872 possibly london married Eleanor Jane Cairns in 1905 in Carlisle Cumberland England living at 27 Granville Road Carlisle County: Cumberland in 1911

Possible parents William Sullivan mother Ann ??? have only just started on the Sullivan family so have only 1911 census which a member kindly gave my yesterday.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

WW1 records are on Ancestry but be aware over half of the records were destroyed by fire during the Blitz in WW2. So it is hit or miss as to whether you are able to find or not

Might be better to return to your other thread. Having said that, a couple of things - does the 1911 not have his birthplace? And have you a reason to think he has a military record? I don't know a great deal about army stuff but might have been a bit old to serve 1914.

I was trying to figure out how to alter the tiltle page on the one you kindly did for me on the 1911 census it says he was born Westminster London on there just double checked.

Everything seems to match but I cannot find a death for Minnie.
The marriage cert. will give you more information.
In 1891 his dad was a groom/cab driver
