Gwyn in Kent

Gwyn in Kent Report 16 Jan 2011 20:10

Later residents will be listed in electoral registers, although until about 1930 women are unlikely to be mentioned.
Old registers will be found at a main library or archive local to the address.

I had wondered exactly that about "Labberner", which I didn't think was a name.

Try this search (at Ancestry, don't know about other sources):

given name ADA
surname *BERNER
dob 1877 +/- 2 yrs
in Birmingham, Warwickshire
born in Birmingham, Warwichshire
father GEORGE
mother ELIZA

Here are results from the summary:

Name: Ada Alice Tabberner
Mother: Eliza Tabberner
Father: George Tabberner
Birth: abt 1876 - Birm, Warwickshire, England
Residence: 1881 - Birmingham, Warwickshire, England

ame: Ada A Talbeiner
[Ada A Tabberner]
Mother: Eliza Talbeiner
Father: George Talbeiner
Birth: abt 1877 - Birmingham, Warwickshire, England
Residence: 1891 - Smethwick, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England

Name: Ada Tabbermer
[Ada Tabberner]
Mother: Eliza Tabbermer
Father: George Tabbermer
Birth: abt 1879 - Birmingham, Warwickshire, England
Residence: 1901 - Aston Manor, Warwickshire, England

Someone has been busy and corrected mistranscriptions of the name at Ancestry.

It looks like two different Ancestry users. Neither has bothered to say what their relationship with the household is, if any. And Ancestry is again being a pig and sending me to Ancestry.com when I am using Ancestry.co.uk and trying to sell me things, so I can't check what the notes for other household members might say.

If you subscribe to Ancestry, you can send those users a message through that system. (If not, someone here will usually volunteer to pass on your email address ... I'm obvously not the right one to do that at the moment ...)

Great minds. ;)

And apologies to Vera -- I hadn't checked the times on posts, and I see Vera may have been in the middle of searching when I posted, having already done a lot to help here.

Maybe there are some tricks there that will help, Vera!
