I have traces my family to William Sheppard born circa 1801 in Child Okeford, Dorset. He married Leah Moor in Feb 1819 in St Nicholas's Church, Child Okeford.

What records can I access to find out details od his siblings and parents? Are there any sources available on the web? I have tried the usual ones.

Very pleased to have that information. The vast majority do match with information I have been able to glean from BMD and census records. The difficulty I am having is the various spellings of my nameand the number of Sheppards in Child Okeford. I am certain that my William Sheppard was born in 1801 and was a sawyer by profession. I obtained details of his marriage to Leah Moor from www.dorset-opc.com/ChildOkeford files.

My original question was where might I go to find family details of siblings and parents prior to 1801. Would this be in parish records and where might they be kept?
