Do you have access to the 1911 census David? If you know where and when your grandparents died and perhaps ages you could try and work back. Really you need their marriage cert to be sure of fathers and ages

The Sylvia's on free bmd have wrong mother's maiden name, and 1928 or 1930, so not showing, so you were not doing anything wrong.

i dont find any details on free bmd,but on an earlier thread i got lots of history on my fathers side so though i would try on my mothers die rather than just posting here i would like to find the details myself if possible

1963 is too young.

only goes up till 1950ish if you are lucky. You should find yourself on ancestry though

the wakefield one could be correct,it will be to a john whitaker if correct.

Possibly you are not showing on births because you are too young?

i am trying to find my mothers details,she was born 1929in wharfedale(this is west yorks),her parents where john & marie whitaker,i would like to know when they married and mothers maiden name, i believe it was stokes?
when i try free free bmd what ever fields i search on i cant get any results, i cant even find my own birth! so i know i must be doing something wrong! is there an idiot guide or some tips that may help?
