Many thanks all for this, a great deal to ponder and work out here. Marlene b.1932 was registered as STEAD STEEL so may be this significant and also why I'm blocked to date? I suppose the Marriage-Cert. would be the solution if nothing further in search allows( There are suggestions of Siblings, unproved so far!)? Again your indulgance to note your findings please and, repeated thanks yet again! M |

Yes, mother's maiden name SHOULD always be the mother's birth name - although what is recorded is only the information given - and sometimes people don't always tell the truth. |

Yes, Flick - I hadn't thought to look at daughter's birth record. Am I right in thinking that even if the mother had been married before then it would be her original maiden name on the birth? |

Anyone with connections to Ethel Constance STEEL b.C1894. Later to marry Arthur John WOZENCROFT (Mine: Co. DURHAM Pits) 1933. She had Daughter Marlene b.1932 in PICKERING N/Yorks. The Family removed to SCUNTHORPE N/Lincs. Grateful! |
