I have been trying to find him on the 1851 and 1861 census but with no success. I know his father was John Perrell (as per his marriage cert).

Would you have any better luck as it is starting to go my head in!!!

He must be there somewhere and it's probably a huge mistranscription. I will have another look but they have changed my Ancestry lookup page today and I am finding it very hard to find anyone let alone an elusive person!!!!!!!!

You say his father was a John Perrell what year of birth about and where please? Still lincs? Maybe Thomas was John's Brother?? and William too.

I know nothing about John except he died before 1876.

I will order Alfred's birth certificate and Thomas's and William's marriage certs and see if there is any links between them.

I reckon this is him. Other children born Stroxton and fit with marriage.

He probably used his step-father's name on marriage cert to avoid embarrassment.
