Len of the Chilterns Report 22 Dec 2010 22:32

I am trying to trace the death of the above, possibly in the 1970s. She was probably born about 1940 in England though the family moved about,( including Australia) due to her father Len Braddock being an executive of Nine Elms Paint Co. Last known address Llanblethian, near Cowbridge, S. Wales though the family subsequently moved to N England. In the 1960s she lived in Belsize Park, W. London and was employed by Abbey National Building Society.

Flick Report 22 Dec 2010 22:38

'Probably born about 1940' is a bit imprecise..........something more definite would mean a better chance of an accurate result

Do you know her mother's maiden surname?

Flick

Flick Report 22 Dec 2010 22:41

There is no death record for the name on Ancestry in the 1970's

Gai

Please be careful when posting birth info if you haven't checked there is a matching death.............the person concerned may be living.

Gai

Gai Report 22 Dec 2010 22:46

I found that one as well Flick but discounted it when I found a birth registration for a Patricia E Braddock.

I have used the name Braddick as well and received no hits.

Gai

Flick. I normally do check before posting but given Len must have some info to say that Patricia has died I assumed it wouldn't be a problem.

Jax,

I'd like to know on what grounds that Len thinks Patricia is dead as I looked this morning and even using name variants got nothing.

I know my research skills aren't as good as yours so maybe you will have better luck than me.

Gai

jax Report 23 Dec 2010 04:02

Well that would help Gai

I cannot see a birth or marriage for a Len or Leonard Braddock for anyone in England or Wales so could they have married abroad? had the children abroad? who knows...could Len not be his name? I did see a George L who had a daughter called Patricia but I think we need more info here. Maybe his name was Les then it would fit nicely

Good question jax.

Looks like we will have to wait for him to return to his thread to get the answer.

But I'm going to stop looking at the moment cause it's doing my head in. I'm trying to find my ancestors who have the name Craddock/Craddick and do you know how many times I've type Braddock.

Cuppa time to clear my head.

Thank you Flick. I am sure this is the right one as Stockport is the vital clue:
Name: Patricia M Braddock
Death Registration Month/Year: 1966
Age at death (estimated): 28
Registration district: Stockport
Inferred County: Cheshire
Volume: 10a
Page: 575

The age at death tallies too. I will obtain a cert. Am very grateful for the help.

So I take it that marriage I gave you for her parents was correct then ??

Not a Len but a Leslie

Not sure you will be able to order the death certificate.

From the GRO website:

"For births, marriages and deaths, you may apply online for any certificate if you have the full GRO index reference. In the case of events in the last 50 years you will be prompted to supply further details as you complete the online application form."

Gai

Would you now please delete the birth info you posted..............which refers to someone who is probably living, and therefore contravenes site rules.

Thank you

Len of the Chilterns Report 28 Dec 2010 22:23

The details I gave referred to no one who is presently alive.

My request to delete was not directed at you......if you read all of my posting, you will realise that

I suggest that the best course of action would be for you to delete the entire thread......to avoid possible repercussions for Gai who posted inappropriate info

Jax
My apologies for omitting to reply. I have been offline since 28th, being indisposed. In mitigation, I would add that I am in my 87th year and somewhat frail.

I have not yet checked out the parent's marriage but it sounds right and the fathers initials fit. I was not on first-name terms with her parents who lived in a different part of the country. PB was a very important person in my life, who suffered from a mental illness and committed suicide in her late twenties. Hence I am sure of her death. I am informed that both parents are deceased.

Probably because of my advanced years, I fail to appreciate impatient persons such as Gai who, if as intolerant as seems, should avoid entering into dialogue with slower-moving persons. I would hate to be responsible for "doing in" another person's head (apparently this is easily done), and will in future avoid posing any more questions as some people seem to get upset very easily..

My thanks to all, including Rose, who have offered information in respose to my original request.
