It would have been helpful if you had told us that you knew Thomas had a wife in 1901.......................

Might be getting the birth certificates to see what name she is listed under.

Nancy can also be short for Agnes and Frances

Neither did I.
Took me 2 years to find one of my ancestors called Nancy on all the censuses but born and married as Ann.

I didn't know that! Thank you.

Nancy was interchangable with Ann/Anne/Annie

Thanks for all your help. I checked the 1911 census to see if Thomas's first wife was still arround and she is still alive and kicking. So it appears that he never married Nancy Spicer.

Such is the joy of family history!

Still looking for her birth though.

Nancy's birthplace was SALISBURY..........in Wiltshire

Thomas was considerably older than his 'wife'.......perhaps he had another wife elsewhere

They may have lied about being married.....not uncommon

My great grandmother was Nancy Louise/Louisa Spicer, Unfortuately, I don't know much about her.

According to the 1911 census, she was married to Thomas Samuel Mills and they had been married for 4 years. I can't find any marriage for them. She was supposedly born between 1878 -1881, according to the same census in Glastonbury but no trace of a birth either.

She had two daughters, Shelia Marie Mills (born 1908), my grandmother and Marjorie F Mills (born 1912)

I have her death in 1958, where she is listed as Nancy Louise Mills.

Could someone please help?
