On 1911 cencus i have my GGGrandmother Rebecca Harris (nee Clark/e) married to William Harris of Edwards Terrace Quakers Yard Merthyr Tidfill. She is 38 and he is 48 and they have been married for 17 years. William Harris was born at Belmont Road Hereford and Rebecca a Merthyr Glamorgan. I have searched many times for Rebecca and Williams marriage but with no luck, also i would like to find a cencus with Rebecca as a Clark/e and living with her parents. Her mother i think was called Ann and possibly her husband was David not to sure on the David though. |

Thank you. Where do you think Margaret Gould (nee Clark) came in to the family, possibly another child after Ann? or perhaps we have it wrong and she wasnt a sister of Rebecca? |

My fault re the 1894 marriage - usually the numbers of men and women on a list of married couples on a particular reference number on FreeBMD gives equal of numbers of men and women ie husbands and wives. In the one I posted re 1894 there is actually 2 women and 3 men so one of the wives is missing. Q4 refers to the 4th qtr of the year - December qtr |

Sorry, I meant the registration quarter covering October, November, December 1894. On the marriage index, you would expect to find an equal number of men & women, on the one posted it looks as if 1 man has been missed of the transcript. |

Would this make it impossible to find the marriage? Thanks Andrea |

As all the husbands are given in the 1894 marraige and William Harris is not there it doesn't appear to be the right marriage. If it was thepossible right marriage(3 wives and 2 husbands) it is possible to search on FreeBMD with no name for all the people married in a particular qtr and year for a particular registration district ie Pontypool. It is then possible to see any individuals where the reference number or name is mistranscribed |

If this is William Harris in 1891 then he is listed as married to a Jane, wihch could be why he couldn't remarry |
