could someone tell me i have found the birth cert of the person i am looking for,but it only gives mothers maiden name and nothing else not dob for mother and no details of the father,if i ordered the birth cert would this info be on it many thanks ian

Flick Report 6 Dec 2010 14:47

Yes...........most of it

The ONLY DOB on a birth certificate is that of the child for whom the cert was issued

You haven't found the 'cert'., you've found the GRO index record

When you say that you have found the birth certificate, do you mean the certificate, or just the registration details ??

If the child was registered in the fathers name then his name will be on there also occupation It will not give the parents ages though

If you're looking for the names of the parents.....providing their surnames are not too common........you may be able to find a marriage registration for them.

Potty

Potty Report 6 Dec 2010 15:00

If the surname the registration is under is the same as the mother's maiden name, then it is probable that the parents weren't married and if so, the father's name will not be on the cert.

Marriages Dec 1934 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gilbert William Whittle Liverpool N. 8b 1016
Whittle Alice Gilbert Liverpool N. 8b 1016

There looks like there is one older sister which you can find here

http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl

I have pm'd some younger ones which were not on Freebmd

Flick

Flick Report 6 Dec 2010 15:13

To find out if there were any siblings for William, just put both surnames in the appropriate boxes on freebmd

Same procedure for the marriage of his parents.............

I won't try to spoil your pleasure.................I'll let you look yourself and have the satisfaction of finding info for yourself

Flick Report 6 Dec 2010 15:15

Whether William had any legitimate children will depend entirely on whether or not he married.

Is he alive?

If not.....when did he die?

Genes is not the best site to find anything I'm affraid Freebmd is good up until about 1940 for births, marriages and deaths then it is a bit hit and miss up until 1950
Most of us use Ancestry or Find my past for records although they are more expensive

I can't understand why you ask if William had any children........having read your other threads, I know that you know the answer to that.........in part, at least

I suspect that you really mean...did he have children with his second wife?

Firstly, you need to establish that the marriage someone found for you is indeed the same William, by getting the cert, and cross-referencing with the marriage to your mother, to verify his age, and father's details.

Only when you are sure will there be any point in looking for possible children

It's a real shame you paid all that money for Platinum when you aren't making use of it............

Whatever you do, don't renew it......get basic membership next time, and use other................much better........resources, for research
