Find Ancestors

This is the first time I`ve asked for help so I hope Im in the right place. I`ve been trying to find Ruth ann Cooper in the 1901 census but there seems to be no trace. She is in the 1891 census with her mum and dad Thomas and Eliza and 2 brothers Albert and Henry but as well as not been able to find ruth I cant find the other members of the family either. Ruth was born in 1888 in Chesterfield derbyshire. She married in 1908 to Andrew johnson Still living in chesterfield. She died in 1913. If anyone can find her for me in the 1901 census I would be very greatful. Thank you.

do you have her marriage cert? does it give an address?

No I don`t have her marriage cert. So I`m not sure where she lived when she got married. I am pretty sure that she lived in chesterfield all her life.

I looked and looked, using Ruth Cooper, Ruth Ann Cooper, Ruth A Cooper, Cooper and C*per alone, Ruth and Ruth A alone. I used birth year and/or birth place for all of them


and nada

Nor could I find her parents!




I think she must have gone on a field trip on that alien space ship that takes so many of our ancestors at times, then drops them back on earth

I have done the same Sylvia! drives you insane..........they are either missed off completely............very badly mistranscribed...........or they could be in Deal, Kent..........which is missing! lol

Did they have any rellies in Scotland Helen.......have you tried their 1901?

One other option is that she (and . or her parents) are on there but either with no name or with initials only ................. that is seen for inamtes of some hopsitals, some workhouses, and prisons

those people usually show up when one uses birth year and birth place as the search criteria


although you do sometimes have a long list to read through.

when did her parents die? Where they dead by 1911?

I am pleased I am not the only one who cannot find them despite doing all sorts of combinations in searches. Have tried 1901 on both FMP and ancestry just in case, cannot find a bean.

I cannot find either parent on the 1911 census either.

do you know the alien space ship theory had crossed my mind. I always thought my family was a bit perculiar!!! lol!! It does drive you mad though.
Have had a look in scottish census but nothing comes up on there.
