That could well be a relative as it is in Surrey and they seem to be a big family! I haven't found a John yet, but it is possible for him to be Francis' brother perhaps?

my postings are frm the free Mormon site - you can visit most Mormon churches and see the records - apparently there is more information available and it is an "extracted" record rather than a "submitted" one whch I think means it is more reliable

Ann of Green Gables- yep that's right, thank you :) Francis William was the son of Francis and Mary.

Also, thank you for the post of Franciss Scobie born in Edinburgh 1771- that could well be him.. I don't suppose you know how I would be able to confirm that do you?


However, as Amokavid suggests, I guess he could have been born in Surrey. I will try and look into it more tomorrow :)

This won't help but FRANCIS WILLIAM SCOBIE baptised Richmond Surrey 21.04.1805..son of Francis (your Francis) and Mary(nee Masters) who were married at Petersham in Surrey 02.12.1804.

Hi there,

I'm trying to find the ancestors of Francis Scobie, a tailor born c1783 and died 1847.

I have quite a lot of information on Francis including all of his children and his last will and testament but I can't trace any further back!

I know he lived in Surrey but was quite possibly born in Aberdeen, Scotland.

If anybody has any information on Francis' parents or birth location, it would be greatly appreciated.
