Astra, it's actually glasses of white wine and keyboards that don't mix well. I've ruined a few, which is why I buy Tesco keyboards costing £3.99. |

Ah No. Don't do that. Computers and tears don't mix well. I'm going to be a little pressed for free time today but I will take another look around later to see what I can find for you. |

Astra, tried the grandson with Flintshire Records. They have several, none that fit properly. However, they are prepared to search further. Stars reign supreme! |

I like this Peter and Ann, cos amongst the many birth certs I have for John Davies b 1840, is one with parents Peter and Ann (nee Vaughan). I have never found this couple with a son John, but maybe a grandson John.......son of John? |

Worth a try I think. The only thing that bothered me about it was the date of birth. John and Margaret had a child born in 1875/6 so unless John's (Grandson) age is transcribed wrongly it would be a bit of a tight squeeze. But stranger things have happened. I couldn't find John in1891. Not with any certainty anyway. |

Astra, I am going for your 1881 grandson, John, born 1876. Will try for the grandson's birth. |

I cannot find John, Mary and children in 1881. There are several deaths which could be her it's very difficult to pinpoint any one. |

To match the names to the marriage it looks as though he could have married Mary Oldfield in 1867 Holywell Volume 1b page 473 |

This is a possibility for 1871. His wife was born in Llanasa but his birth place is noted as Halkyn. He is a Stone mason. But as you well know looking for the name Davies in Wales is like looking for a needle in a hay stack. |

First appears on the 1881 census in Glossop, Derbyshire, born 1841 in N Wales, Flint, with second wife Margaret b 1839 in Ribchester, Lancashire. I have a full history of her, it is John who is "missing". This couple married in Dec 1890, both widowed. I know that is true of Margaret. But by 1890 they had 3 children together, the eldest 16 years old. They married in Stockport, Cheshire, not locally, I assume to hide the fact that they weren't already married from neigbours. |
