Find Ancestors

I have all the bmd info I need but cannot find any sign of him divorcing his wife Amy Clarke to marry my Grandma Sarah Turner (who called herself Cain). We cannot find him on the 1911 census. We have found his WW1 medal record but can find no other military information. Any ideas? He is an enigma. x

Could his first wife have died, do you have the marriage cert. of Edmund to your Grandma? I found two ancestors who both remarried, but were not divorced from each other - they stated they were "widowed",

There is a Mrs E.B. Cain leaving Liverpool on 18 September 1906 for Boston, USA ? Unfortunately, can't find any record of a Mr. Cain on the same ship ?

I have found a edward cain in the 1911 cencus age 31 born hunstanton married 3 years 1 child.

He is a visitor with william frost b1870 leighton buzzard.

have you checked if olive mary was his daughter.

In answer to some questions

Yes Olive Mary Cain was Edmund and Amy's daughter (birth cert obt), she was born November 1906.

Edmund was born in Hunstanton

First wife Amy L Clarke did not die until 7.7.1938. He had already fathered 4 children with my G Grandma Sarah Turner by then (ranging from 1913 to 1920).

Can find absolutely no records of him ever marrying Sarah A Turner b1888ish.

Caroline - I have tried finding the record you refer to on the 1911 census but I can't seem to find anything for an Edward. I have found the William Frost you refer to but cannot find the Edward Cain - visitor. Any ideas?

We don't have Amy's place of birth however she lived at 15 Petersham Road, Richmond, Surrey at the time of her marriage on 13.8.06. Her father's name was Henry Clarke and he was a drill instructor.

The only child he had with Amy (that we can locate) is Olive Mary Cain born November 1906 in Thorton Heath 3 months after the wedding!
