Find Ancestors

Desperately trying to find reatives of Jamse Spilling all I know about him is he married Isabella Kelley in 1882 in Bethnal Green, they had 4 children that I know of James, Arthur, Maud and Albert,(known as Berti)there could be more, James's father was called John spilling and was deceased by 1882 his occ was a Paver as was his sons' James. the children were bought up in a workhouse as obviously the family were in dire straights. I have traced Maud and Albert but not the others. I am also searching for Olive May Spilling, wether they are related or not is not known, she was born 1883 could have been England or India I know what happened to her but not 2 of her children, can any of you clever people help me PLEASE

Thanks I have that but it doesn't say where she was born I know of her Husbands family but we can only find one of the 3 children.If we knew where Olive was born it would mean a lot

Wonder if this is James with father John (Both pavers of sorts)

Spelling could be because of the Irish accent !

HiMike you could be on to it there because there is a letter stating that Isabella, Spilling , James wife was removed from a workhouse to hospital, the address she was removed from was Meeting House Lane.
Anymore info like that would be very much appreciated. we only have the birth reg for 1 of the children and that is james 1886, the others have england not known for place of birth but they are in a workhouse at that time.

Hi Susan James 1886 was bornCamberwell I have his baptism records but it is from a workhouse,the other 3 found on 1891or 1901 Census have just England and not known as birth . They are not registeged for certificates either. There is letter also saying that the marraige of James and isabella was not viable but I will have to find the date.

Hi Mike , being a bit thick here, the other 2 names, were they people that got married as well and have the same reg no? It looks like you have come up trumps on the birth as wel,l thank you so much, sorry been late getting back to you but busy running son back and forth to garage. You proved so good at this please try the Olive May Spilling part of the question. For the James and Isabella you will have made an elderley man very happy I will pass it on first and let you know his response.

Yes there are 2 couples sharing the same page on the records.

As for Olive May Spilling you say " I know what happened to her " so I'm not sure what you're looking for.

There are a couple of likely marriages but you may already have that info.

If she's not related to James etc then could you give us some background please.

Hi Mike trying to pull up that census 1881 but there is only John Spillane on it, when I put in Mary or james name its still pulls up that same one John is on the bottom line and I cannot get the next page, What am I doing wrong?

Hi yes sorry that did sound a bit ambiguous reading it back. I know olive married in India in 1911 she died in India in 1919 she was born c1883 but I dont know where , I can find no record in India or England. She had 3 children, Phil Gerorge Edward and anunkown girl, I only know there was a 3rd child because her widowed husband bought them back to England in 1920 Phil sadley took his own life in 1956 its is the birth certificates I cannot find of any of the children and i have no idea what happened to the other 2. So in summary . Where did Olive come from? could she have been a workhouse child sent abroad and that is why there is no birth cert here as there arn't for Jamesand Isabella 3 children And what happend too George and the little girl?

Hi Amanda, you are not doing anything wrong, it is one of the problems with GR. If your ancestors are on the top or bottom of the page, unlike Ancestry, GR does not allow you to view the previous or following page.

Thansk susan but when I put in their information it brings up the same page but they are not on it.

Have put a message in to Genes because this has happend more than once, I could have completed some of my searches weeks ago as i knew the names i was searching for but Genes was not pulling them in fo me. I will see what they come up with or I may have to go with another company.
