Message from Joanne posted on records

Hi you wonderful people, the threads you all provided about Ann and Clara Hague were so spot on. also Kenneth Grundy my mums brother died very suddenly he was on leave from the army when he was battered and didn't fully recover he caught pneumonia my mum said it was called 'The crisis' and died when he got back to his barracks in Tilbury. Kenny should have had a military funeral but nana and grandad just wanted their lad home. seeing the information you all supplied really hit home this is our family, just waiting on Clara and Davids marriage certificate will keep you all posted. thank you so much. Pauline and Joanne

Hi Joanne, just been having a look at this again and there are lots of Grundys around Hulton , all seemingly involved in coal mining.

Just wondering if Joanne knows how to come back to her threads ? She has said she is quite new to this and I didn't know how when I first started. I will PM her.

Hi Joanne,

There is this David Harold Grundy in 1911, correct age ( matches with 1901 supplied by Jax)

James Cooney 39 miner
emily Cooney 49 laundry hand
David Harold Grundy 13 - now described as nephew

States James and Emily been married 11 years and no children born .
21 Peers Street ,Pendlebury, Salford.

On 1901 Maria Wray is described as step daughter ( to James )so Emily obviously married before.

best wishes

The marriage doesn't specify who partnered whom.
I wouldn't count on that record until you get it confirmed that you are indeed looking for Ann Byrne and Edward Hague.

That information will be on Clara's birth certificate.

The marriage certificate of Clara and David will tell you their father's names and occupations.

I would suggest buying these two certs first and then working backwards with the information they provide.

Perhaps someone could look up this entry from 1901 census.
I'm afraid I don't have access.

Hi Mike, I am a bit consfused i am new to this as if you didnt realise 2 weeks in and not got very far, June 1894 Ann byrne would that be a marriage between Edward hague or alfred calligan, i am hopeless at this i have found links for my mums side all over the place and completely wrong. is some of this down to good guess work as well as past records? could I find any information for David Harold Grundy on the original marriage certificate for clara and David. cheers joanne

Mike * Report 28 Oct 2010 00:40

This looks like Clara's birth.
You would need to buy the certificate to see the details.
It would also confirm if Ann was indeed Ann Byrne.
