For Vera! If you go on 1911 site (not logged on) and do a free search there is an option to search for names beginning with a certain letter. You can just work your way along the alphabet.

Ken I have the occupation codes in my favourites. They are on the official 1911 site under 'Help and Advice'.

They are very useful as you can search that site using the occupation code. There are also Birthplace codes

On the 1911 Census the occupation of two daughters aged 25 and 21 is shown as Ive Makers. Does anyone have any ideas as to what that might be? I have looked on an "Old Occupations" website, and also Googled it, both to no avail. Any ideas please!!
