can someone please have a look at the 1861 census for me. i have john pitcher born around1816, thanet, kent and his wife eliza pitcher(nee goodwin) born around 1817 also in kent. they have 2 children hannah born 1854 and frederick born 1858 both thanet ,kent. on the 1861 census it shows them with far more children than i knew of, but i cannot read all of their names. cant see hannah but could be annie? its not very clear. on the other hand, maybe i have compketely the wrong family? if this is not the right pitchers, could someone see what they can find, its driving me mad. |

hi lindsey, yes i have looked at this one but where is his wife eliza. they married in 1849 and she didnt die until 1891 in thanet? im not so sure yet about the other six children. i suppose ann could have been hannah? and they could have had some children before they married, not uncommon i guess. |

if this helps to pinpoint right family search on frederick pitcher 1871 born 1859 thanet. when it comes up it shows hannah age 14 and frederick aged 12 which is correct. no other children living with them. john is a fisherman, correct. so in 1861 hannah would have been about 4 and frederick 2 but cant make this fit. |

oh gosh, this has really surprised me and of course it has expanded the family tree. so lindsey you are right, i will have to order at least one of the older childrens birth cets to see whose details are on it. |

What was the outcome when this family was mentioned on another thread of yours as it is to long to read it all |

hi julie, no i dont have any birth certs so will have to order one of the older ones i guess. yes i did have another thread, that was when hannah pitcher got married to a henry syrett in 1901. she had a daughter prior to that and trying to find her was the problem due to the spelling of the surname van covenden/coevorden etc. i did eventually trace sophie as van convander but not her father, who supposedly was either alex or charles. that was a very long saga. |
