Find Ancestors

I Have found where William is buried,he shares the grave with Mary Durrell (wife) at Kingstone cemetery in an unmarked plot,Grave 16 i believe.

Would be great if i could trace some of there Living descendants.

Can anyone locate from there expertise where possibly William Rather (Ruther)is buried in the Portsea area.He died c1897 i believe.

There are two seperate families living in that one house.

The Ruthers have beel listed first, then the Lee family.

Charlotte has then been added at the end. - Image does say that she is 'daughter in law to W Ruther!! - In this case d-in-law is used to denote 'step-daughter', which would be correct from what you have said.

On the original image of the census they are all in the same household but transcribed separately. They could be renting a certain number of rooms each. Charlotte is noted as Daughter in Law (often used to mean Step Daughter).

Not finding a marriage for either at the moment

Hi Mark,
They are listed in the 1881 census,but i dont know where they were born,but they were in the Portsmouth area at that time.I think there farther William was from Doncaster? and it looks like he has met Mary (Durrell),and they have had a fling.They both died in 1897.I am therefore hoping there may be decendants of the two girls.

What census have you found them on..Where were they born and living

Are there any decendants of these two girls.In 1881 Mary Jane was 18 and her sister Lizzie was 11.It`s possible her parents were not married,but were William and Mary Rather in 1881
