Edna was born in 1935 she would have to be 21 yrs old to register to vote, which makes it not until 1956.

On-line access to electoral rolls stops at 1954.


If you contact the Townsville Newspaper, or the Townsville library they MIGHT be able to find info for you, possibly for a fee.

Is it possible to do a search of the Townsville Newspaper for a wedding anouncement from May 1955?

Unfortunately I haven't made anymore progress. I search for all the people with surname "King" born in Townsville between 1955 and 1965 (as I believe she had all her children by 1965) and sent them a message on here but no luck yet.

... in case it helps .... the 'QLD State Library' has an 'Ask Us' librarian service (on-line)... they should be able to find/trace 'Edna May King' from the electoral rolls.. (at least around 1983). (may even find her brothers 'Charles A' and 'Noel F' ).

data compiled and gathered by Kerry Hall, she has this information on rootsweb, with her email address. It looks like she was buried in Queensland.

I have received information today that Annie Rita TERRANCE (nee CUPITT), died on 10/06/84, aged 84 years.

Can anyone tell me if this was a death in QLD or NSW?

Edited original post to update Edna's marriage details. I believe I mis-read the original information and Edna was only married once, not 3 times as originally thought.

I received information today that she was married in Townsville in 1953. That's about as much as I have got.

I am slowly piecing together the puzzle and hoping someone may be able to find a few extra pieces! This is what I have so far.

Edna May McKenzie was born 19th June 1935 (although a couple of documents give 16th June 1935) in Casino, New South Wales to Hector Alexander McKenzie born 1893, and Annie Rita McKenzie (nee Cupitt) born 1899. Hector and Annie married in 1926 and this was Hector's second marriage.

Edna was the youngest of 5 children. Her siblings were Joan M, Charles A, Joyce L and Noel F (sorry, I only have the initials of their second names). There possibly could be another daughter but they are the only names that appear on Hector's death certificate.

Hector was a railway employee and died in 1937 at the age of 44. Annie went on to marry a George LITTLEJOHN in 1942 and when he died in 1946, married Owen Michael TERRRANCE in 1949. I believe Owen died in 1957 and it is unsure what happened to Annie as I cannot find any details that she remarried or died (if anyone could help with this - would be great!)

It is believed it may have been a disrupted family as Edna did not attend formal schooling and worked in the spinning mills prior to her first marriage. Edna married a man with the surname KING) and she had 5 children, 2 girls and 3 boys. In 1983 the youngest two sons were aged 18 and 20 years.

In 1983, Edna was divorced from her husband and was engaged to a man she had known for approximately 4 years. She fell pregnant with me and I was given up for adoption. I was given the surname KING, which I believe not to be my fathers surname, but to be Edna's last husbands surname and was her surname at the time). No fathers details were listed on my birth certificate or paperwork, and it is believed he may have originally been from Western Australia and returned there when he learned Edna was pregnant.

Last known address for Edna was Raceview, Queensland in 1983. I believe Edna is still alive and residing in Queensland and would like to try and make contact.

Also trying to obtain details for my siblings and birth father.

Can anyone assist?
