I know what you mean Cath, it just seems logical that no matter were they came from I imagine being released as young men in this area they would probably stay around for a while, also I have had people say he was the son of a farmer, seems to me more likley for someone in those days to wind up as a chimney sweep would not have had that good of a start in life? |

Northamptonshire Record Office has the records for Peterborough Workhouse (at least the ones that survive). They have admission and discharge registers from 1836 to 1930 so you could find details there. |
