Samuel or Joseph Hartley

On the 1901 census where it says the 15 year old Samuel was an "errand boy. port" it simply means that he worked at a port or docks somewhere as an errand boy (running errands or messages for other people who worked there). A lot of boys would have started out doing a job like this and then as they got older moved up to do more important jobs. |

Hi I need help again. I am trying to trace an Alice Waller nee Hartley born 1857. I have census records for her up to 1901. After that she disappears. I know that one of her children was born in America in 1883. She then returned with only the children by 1887. I cant find the husband Charles after the 1891 census although she is registered as still married. Any help as always gratefully recieved. Pam |
