As Flick has said, you need your great-aunt's (or grandfather's) marriage certificate to confirm her age and father's name, when she married.

Then you will know whether that family in 1911 is the right one. It certainly seems to be, but you do need confirmation.

Then you will just trace them back the way we all do with our ancestors!

I'm in Canada -- all my four grandparents were immigrants, two as children around 1910, and two as a married couple in the 1920s. I knew nothing their parents' families in England, when I started, so you aren't alone.

Once you've confirmed that this is the right family, you will also be able to look for living relations, family of the other brothers and sisters, if that is what you would like to do.

If it's the family, there were also other children -- this is the household in 1901:

Civil parish: Wolstanton
Town: Longridge Hayes
County/Island: Staffordshire

William Meeson 50
Sarah Meeson 44
William Meeson 26
Polly Meeson 22
Harriett Meeson 17
Lydia Meeson 15
George Meeson 13
Sam Meeson 12
Annie Meeson 10
Allis Meeson 8

Firstly, we need you to tell us if the info posted is the right set of people.

No point in anyone spending time following wrong lines.....................

BUT.....there are thingsyou can do yourself............one of which is buy the marriage cert (as above) through which you will find out the name and occupation of Annie's father, to help with locating her on a census

ok sorry if not said please and thankyou , I am very new to this !! so "please" can someone assist me in tracing my ancestors. Thankyou .

JaneyCanuck Report 4 Oct 2010 13:25

Perhaps if you asked for help saying something like "please", and maybe a "thank you" to the people who have offered help so far ...

The way you framed your original post it seemed you were looking for living relations of your aunt.

In fact, your father, not just your aunt (really your great-aunt, I think), was a Meeson, and it might have made sense to mention that.

Josephine Report 4 Oct 2010 13:12

I would like to trace my ancestors on the meeson side as I know very little about any of them.

Josephine

Josephine Report 4 Oct 2010 13:11

my aunt was sister to george meeson who was my fathers father.

If you put Denis Cartwright 1916 into search trees there is a connection

If she was your Aunt, one of her siblings was your parent.....Who was that person?

When and where did ANNIE die?

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 27 Sep 2010 11:30

And now you need to be more specific about what "more" you would like to find out. Are you looking to trace your ancestors on that side? find living relations?

It makes a big difference when people try to help!
