Found this and wonder if it is the same Andy Dickson

Andy Dickson joined Dundee United as trainer and phsiotherapist in May 1960 after being with Dunfermline as assistant trainer, trainer, then manager. He was a valued and respected member of the training team at Tannadice for many years and a well known personality to the fans. Andy died in 1991 but is forever remembered in the song “Proud to be an Arab” by Ricky Ross.

Given that the Christian name is Andrew for both I think Mr Dickson and Spalding are probably the same person. This would make sense.....perhaps he was born as Spalding but later became Dickson

Found his death

1991 DICKSON ANDREW KIRK SPA M 72 DUNDEE DUNDEE CITY/DUNDEE CITY

I would guess that SPA is for Spalding.....
