Odd thing is, if you put the email address listed on Friendsreunited into a Facebook seach, another name is returned.

There's a Simon McCallum on Friends Reunited, went to a college in St. Neots and lives in Stirling. Aged in his 40's and has lived in Scotland since 1989. . Not saying he is definitely yours obviously but might be worth a look.

If you look at this Entire "Trying to Find "board you will see a post by "Ginny" called...Please dont post the same family twice.

If you click on the name Ginny and give her your fathers name, year of birth and believed to be in Scotland she will look it up on the electoral roll for you I think as I know she has access to all the info on it.
So she may be able to send you some possible up to date addresss to write to..

I have seen one that could be him on 192.com but do not have access to it.

Have you tried a street search for that address on Friends Reunited? It might seem a long time ago to you but to us "oldies" it's pretty recent! There might be people registered there who know something. You can't leave any stone unturned, sometimes the most unlikely route can get results.

I see that you have him in your tree as born London?
so does one other person have a tree on here with that name born same year and place.
Have you tried contacting them if you have not already?

But if you have him down as born London how can he have come from Canada?
Or is it his parents that came from Canada?

I do have the address of the house in St Neots. Where do I go from there? Bearing in mind they lived there in 1986!

Does your mother have an address? If you live nearby you could search the electoral registers to see who was living there (adults over 18). Might give a few clues.

yes in Peterborough, but he's not on my birth certificate.

My mum has told me things are difficult. At 16 years old she thought it was best for her to raise me alone. She had reasons for her decisions i am sure just as i do but she has given me her blessing.

I have tried facebook etc but no joy.

Just to add incase anyone can help, his name is Simon McCallum I think thats the correct spelling of the surname. He would be 43 years old. His father was Duncan McCallum - I beleive he came over from Canada. Mother Jill or Gill or Gillian McCallum I dont have an age for her and a brother called James or Jamie - he would be slightly younger 38ish. They lived in StNeots Cambridgeshire 24 years ago. I beleive they moved to Scotland when i was 1 so 23 years ago. None of my family have heard from them since.

Any info would be great I'm really working on nothing at the moment.

I assume from what you say that your mother has told you his name? He can't be very old I guess. If the name isn't too common you can try the usual things like Facebook, Friends Reunited and 192.com.

There are people on here who are very good at tracking down living relatives (I'm not one of them!) - but do be careful about opening cans of worms.

I am completely bewildered by this website and being 24 and understanding most new technological things, it scares me!

I have always wondered who my dad was right from when I was 5 years old. One of my earliest memories is asking my mum one evening when she tucked me into bed was "mum dads not my real dad is he?" She was shocked but did not lie. "No" she said "but its complicated". At 5 years old I could not understand why. As the years passed I went through all the phases, jealousy of other peoples seemingly perfect families and then resided to convince myself my dad was a famous millionaire who once he found his little girl would never let her go. The older I got the more i realised I wanted a dad because i needed to fill the void in my life. I need to know about that whole other side of me. Wether i look like him or we have similar personalities or annoying habits we share, if we have the same nose or smile. But It has taken me 19 years from that very first question to prise the information out of my mum. Now I feel I just keep hitting a wall. I was told this was the best website when it comes to finding family but I fear I will never find him. I dont want to find him too late and realise he;s passed away in a tragic accident or I have sisters or brothers i dont know and never will. I f any of you are reading this and have any tips you would make a young girl very happy. I just want to find out about who i am.
