Hi my name is Gaynor, I am trying to find information about my mothers family from South Wales. Their surname was James, and I know they had a pub called the Bridge End, Cricklowell. I really want to feel part of my Welsh heritage.

The Bridge End pub is still in existence - have passed it many times

They lived there for years. My great grandfather was William and Great grandmother was Maggie Ann.

Have contacted the pub, they have not heard of them

I could do that, they might be able to help me. My mothers family name of James and Vaughan are popular in Wales.

Hi Paul, I know they were there in the 1940's, I have also been told that William was a master baker and had a shop there.

Hi Barbara, Have found them on 1911 census, but can not find anyone who know's them later, I thought they would have been well known because of the pub. I know they would not be alive, but there grandchildren should be.

Or what about writting to the "letters Page" in the local paper asking if anyone can remember William and Maggie Ann, ??
I'm not sure of the "local Paper" but Ann of Green Gables may know what its called.

Gaynor, you're just being a little vague! both about what information you have and what you're looking for.

"My great grandfather was William and Great grandmother was Maggie Ann."

So one of their children is your grandparent, your mother's parent.

And their other children's children would be your mother's first cousins.

Is that who you'd like to find?

Is one of those three children your grandparent? Do you know whether they had children after 1911, and who they were?

It might be not too difficult to identify marriages for at least some of their children, and possibly find their children's births. Are you not in touch with any of your mother's cousins?

Have you searched for any of the names you do know in trees here at GR? (Do you have the names in your own tree?)

My mother was Dwynwen, her father William Horrace. So if Maggie is your great grandmother we are related. Who are your grand parents? I know very little about them, I dont even know what my grandfather looks like. Please if you have anymore information on them, I would be really greatful. I am hoping to come down to wales next April to find out more.
