ELIZABETH ? born abt 1835- QUINTON, MICKLETON, GLOS/WARW

WILLIAM COLLINS- born 1837 TIMSBURY, HANTS. (think Romsey area)

Not very often a couple completely baffle me but these two are.
I have them ok 1871 onwards but cannot prove their births dates or places which does not help find their marriage.

I have found a marriage and just wondered if someone might be able to help as I am failing to find the brides name.

STRADFORD UPON AVON 4th QTR 1859 6D PAGE 240
WILLIAM COLLINS.
Perhaps then I might be able to locate them on earlier census returns along with their parents.
Any help would be appreciated. thanks Cindi

Shirley/ yes I have all their children and their life after marriage.
I do appreciate buying a birth certificate may be the only answer but I am doing this work for a friend and did not really want to spend MY money doing another persons tree for which I receive no payment. As I am sure you appreciate our family history stuff costs us quite a lot already in subs etc so when it is not your family ! But thank you very much Cindi

Hi Cindi
Well i would be inclined to tell your friend that you can get no further on that side without buying a cert and you will do this for the cost of the cert, then its up to them.
They are lucky you are doing their tree for them and should appreciate, as we all do, that it does cost

K Yes 1841 and 1851 census I have seen two likely William Collins one being the boy living with his Grandfather- what I had hoped to do was find a wedding that looked like the right date/couple/place etc and then I would spend £9.25 of my money and purchase which would give me both their fathers names. This then would help me find them on earlier census returns. Cindi

K/ just seen your later marriage. Doubt it somehow it does not really fit the pattern - I was going to say they are more middle class but then thought they are just as likely to have been married the wrong side of the blanket as us working class families! but somehow doubt it. I will see what I can find in Hampshire marriages around 1860 as their first born child was born in Hants. Cindi

Just realised that my own great grandparents the Anstee family lived next door but one to the couple in 1881. A very small world!
