I have only just started going back through my documents and visiting Scotland's people to verify things to make sure they are right. So to answer your question, I have not really got very far yet.
Will certainly post what I have as I go
Thankyou for your interest, as you can imagine it has tipped me upside down to lose a whole family, so I am going slowly until I am sure all the pieces go together.
thanks again

Have you found your Mary and James on any census records please? The only Mary b. 1833 with husband James that I can see in 1861 living in Glasgow was born in Ireland.

Hi Everyone.
Unfortunately through no fault by anyone, and the sad part about researching people with the same names, I have come to discover that this family is not indeed mine. I do have a Mary Kerr marrying a James Lindsay but this Mary Kerr daughter of John Kerr and Elizabeth Forbes through a marriage document was married to Robert Colville Smith. I just wanted to thank everyone for their time and effort and you will all be happy to know that I have been in contact with a descendant from this family who did not have any of this research and she has now gained a lot from all of our research, so no one has wasted any time.
I will now go and try to find my correct tree members!!!!!!

As both John and Elizabeth died after 1855, you should be able to find their deaths on Scotlandspeople. The death entries may give you their parents names - if the informant knew the details.

Hi everyone
Looking for any information on John Kerr who was married to Elizabeth Forbes . I donot know where either of these people originated from or where their marriage took place.
I know they had at least one daughter named Mary, and probably other children.
Mary Kerr was born on 22.06.1833 or 2.06.1833 in Tradeston a place near Glasgow, Scotland.
They may have come to live in the parish of Gorbals/ City of Glasgow in Scotland in the early 1850's
Mary Kerr went on to marry James Lindsay (of Glasgow) in the parish of Gorbals, Scotland 25.06.1854.
Thanks to everyone for your help.
(Please read final post for update on this family)
