Hi Flick

Yes it is all a bit confusing isn't it. I thought that that was his death and I know that there is a piece on his death in the local Lincolnshire paper so I will send for that and see if this helps me.

Also I will send for his death cert and see what this gives me.

thanks for sending me the 1911 census I will print it off and add it to my notes.

The man I was waiting for has got back to me so maybe he will be able to help. This is his grandfather and he or one of his family possibly knows the anwers to my questions.

Thanks again for all your help

Thanks again Flick

I think I will buy the cert like you suggest but it will have to wait for a little while as I have more important certs to buy first.

I have just been in touch with someone on here about this family and I am waiting to see if he gets back to me. This is his direct line and I think it would make us cousins.

Thanks again Flick for all your help

I have a sub to fmp, so there's no specific cost.

I'll send you the 1911 image, if you let me have your e-mail details via PM

Thanks Flick for looking them up on the 1911 census for me. It was really kind of you.

How do I go about refunding the cost of the search to you?

Thanks also for looking up the marriage for me.
You have been really helpful.

all the best

I've just checked the 1911 image........in case there was a doubt about his age......but it is very clearly 29.

That doesn't, of course, mean that it was accurate!

If he WAS born in 1872, the birth may not have been registered ,as no penalties were in force until 1875.

Depending on how important your search is to you, you may find your best option is to get the marriage cert.........

I think it's worth investigating - though maybe a bit hopeful it's just about possible that John is 39 on the image 1911, see what you think.
One or two siblings 1901 are born on Bourne which would fit with his birthplace as given 1911. Thurlby does come under Bourne too. Hate to say it but you might need his marriage cert to sort this one out!

Thanks Flick. Thank you for your help.

I had checked the FreeBMD and couldnt find him. As far as I know he is called John William Eggitt. He has a son called Arthur J Eggitt b 1914. This gave me his mothers maiden name as Vine. I then looked up the marriage of Eggitt and Vine which gave me the fathers name as John William. They married in 1902

The 1911 census (The bit that I can see) gave me JOhn Williams birth as 1882. and they were living in Spalding. I tried to find John William on the 1881 and failed.

I had a quick look on the 1881 and couldnt see him there.
Thanks again for your help

Please can someone see if they can find John W Eggitt on the 1901 census. He was born about 1882. I am not sure where he was born, He would probably be living in the Spalding area of Lincolnshire.

Thank you for your help
