I am trying to trace Irene Wiltshire b abt. 1889 possibly in India. She married Wm Wiltshire in India. They had one son Charles Wiltshire born in India. Irene and Wm returned to UK on 30 Apr 1930 their son followed on 18 Oct 1936. Irene could be Anglo Indian understand her maiden name was Petrie. Any help would be greatly appreciated. These are my husbands great grandparents and very little is known about their life in India.

She also came back into England in 1935 with William and they are making for

Thanks for that you have just amazed me I live in Sidcup. I know that Charles had a Bexley address in 1936 that was Carisbrook Avenue. The next time I find them is in 1938 living in Brentford when Charles married. Marlborough Park Ave is just round the corner from where I live

I dont know where he was born but he does give an incoming address in 1930 as 5c Monica Road, Small Heath Birmingham.

Scrub that about Brentford it was the inlaws living in Brentford apologies.

I found this connection too but I'm sure her name was Petrie not Bowder.

I would not discount that India marriage at all...In fact I would say it was spot on.

Family stories can SO often be wrong.....

When and where did William Wiltshire die?

On passenger lists going to Karachi in 1930 he says he is an Engine Driver.

Thanks again you have been so helpful. I think your right about her being a Bowder. The name Petrie seems to have been a cousins name and I am now assuming that Irenes sister married a Petrie. If Irene died in the Surrey area maybe William did too. Bramley in Hampshire has also been mentioned to me.
