Kingsland was a small road-side settlement centred on Kingsland High Street, on the Old North Road (the present A10), Middlesex. It has now been subsumed within inner city London, principally as part of Dalston in the London Borough of Hackney and has lost its separate identity.

Balls Pond Road joins Kingsland High St. I know it doesn't look like that on the image but it does sound similar.

If she was born in Kingsland (Hackney) which I suspect she was, what was her maiden name ? you might be able to find her birth record on the Ancestry London Archives?

TootyFruity I'm sorry but for a Londoner Romford and Kingsland are thought of as far apart. My ancestors always recorded themselves on census born Kingsland. They were in the reg'n district of Islington and lived in the Islington area until the 1920s and then moved onto Harrow. There are still rellies in that part of London. I notice the elder Browning children were recorded as born in Islington.

Yes, Jonesey, I looked at that marriage too. In fact I posted the 1851 about an hour before you. But I can't find an Elizabeth Chesterman in 1841.

The only way to really know is to get a child's birth cert.
Births Sep 1841
Browning Jane Hannah Islington 3 20

There are 4 William Brownings born 1844/45

Births Mar 1846
BROWNING Sarah Islington 3 234

Births Dec 1847
BROWNING Elizabeth Birmingham 16 288 I'm sure on the image of 1851 Elizabeth is born Birmingham.

Births Dec 1849
BROWNING John Clerkenwell 3 111

Good morning (just!).

Thanks for all the replies everyone - as always a lot more has gone on than I anticipated! I have a lot of info about Elizabeth but just wondered what this said - I suspect I might never know maybe? Favoured the Ballspond Road idea, but just don't know. Might have to admit defeat here I think.
Thanks for all the input, I do appreciate it.

So Kingsland is sort of Islington way then? A lot of my rellies were born Islington or Newington then settled in Walthamstow.
As for Romford its not even in London so I would say Its not near at all
