Not sure what information you are after..

There are literally hundreds of Edward Powells...far to many to guess at which is yours

If he was born in Scotland then you should find his birth cert. at Scotlandspeople.

What do you already know about him?

Parents names? brothers, sisters?...you must have some information to have him in your tree.

Add to the thread what you already have, then prehaps we can help you.

Think this may be his death cert. registeration.

Deaths Jun 1878 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Powell Edward 26 Medway 2a 282

EDIT..just checked Scotlandspeople..there was no Edward Powell birth registered between 1860 and 1863....

Look up and advice Please

Looking for advice on how to obtain more info on a Private Edward Powell aged 26 of the Royal Marines, who drowned in the River Medway Chatham on the 16th April 1878 who fell from his ship HMS Fox.

I have the inquest reports from two local papers, plus info from the archives :- ADM 157/286/238

Folios 238-242. Edward Powell, born Monmouthshire, Scotland. Attestation papers to serve in the Royal Marines at Plymouth 1875 (when aged 23). Discharged 1878 as Dead.

Edward Powell, born Monmouthshire, Scotland, must have been copied down wrong?

I am going to send off to the Archive to get copies of the info that they have on him, in the mean time I am looking for info on where he was born, was he married, next of kin, census, ect
Thanks
Charles
