Hi everone
I still cannot find Stephen Pauling birth about 1805 in Rutland and his wife Rachel XXXX , both born in Rutland.
Can anyone tell me who would hold the BMD certs.

Thanks for for that, I have looked at the fully list of births at Edith Weston, were Rachel say she was born, 1871 census. The only Rachel's were Bloodworth, but the dates are the 1700 and not 1808, they had a daughter named Ann, she was christened at Peterborough, would have been about 1831 being 10 years old on the 1841 census.
So Stephen Pauling and Rachel XXXX would have married round 1830.

No idea about farm, you would have to get land records, but as he was still working at age 76 then he probably didn't own the land. Most of the land around there was owned by Earls Gainsborough and Ancaster.

Jarvis could well be her maiden name as it was quite common for this to be used, Unfortunately I no longer live in Rutland so can't look at records for you. Oakham Library has most parish records on micro-fiche. I don't know why she has birth place down as Edith Weston and also Barleythorpe. Just to confuse us all 200 yrs down the line.

On the 1841 census Stephen was down has a farmer at Pickworth Lincolnshire.
Was the farm his own, leased or rented,
When Rachel died 1872 June 2qtr, listed Rachel Jarvis Pauling, would this be her maiden name?

Have just remembered that Hardwick is near Empingham in Rutland which is where Stephen says he was born on most of the census returns.

in 1881 he is still working but not a farmer

however I have realised that the children of this Stephen and Rachel Pauling do not match the names in the original post baptised Pickworth, so 2 different families perhaps

I think I have it right. According to the 1871 census Stephen Pauling was a farmer, but I read it, he was discharged from out of buttfield, this was at Billingborough Lincolnshire. He was about 66 years old at the time of the census.
Could anyone confirm that the farm was not owned by him, and have I right that the Farm was lease or rented. Thanks.
Still looking for his marriage and the wifes maiden name.

I don't know if I have this right, but the person I am looking for was posted 26th August 2010 at 20.09.
The names were a Stephen Pauling and is wife Rachel.
Up to date I have got Stephen, he was born at Hardwick Rutland and his wife Rachel was born at Edith Weston also in Rutland, according to the 1871 census Stephen birth was about 1805, Rachel birth about 1808.
I want to know Rachel maiden name, the date, place they married, if this is possible? Thanks
