It probably should be seamstress however on the actual census sheet the head of house has definately put her as Stewardess -late |

Well it was head of house who filled the info in on the 1911 perhaps he wasnt that clear what she was called she was a dressmaker/seamstress and he pulled out the wrong description for her. Wonder how she is described on the death cert / |

Any idea how I could find that out, Perhaps maybe because of her accent being in the London suburds in 1911, she may of said seamtriss which sounded like stewardess, she was really a dressmaker. |

This (1851) fits with her age in 1911, but doesn't help in any other way |

I don't think that females were employed on board ships on the 19th century......could be wrong, but, it's unlikely |

The obvious thing to do is to find her on previous census to see what she did then. - Unfortunately, I don't seem to be able to find her ??? |
