I have located a marriage between Gosler and Mary Jackson in 1822 in Lincolnshire so think this is the one.
I am still trying to find the Irish connection.

Mary (Gostelow) was married to William Gostelow, they had a son in 1822, then William (father) died and Mary married James Jackson.
Can anyone locate the marriage of William Gostelow and Mary about 1820?
The Gostelow could be spelt very differently!

Yes Astra this is definately the right Martha in Frieston.
William's father also called William is written on his marriage certificate, so I hope it is possible to find out if Mary Jackson was a remarried lady and herefore his mother....hence the stepson idea, thanks.

On the 1851 where William is living with the Jacksons he is noted as Son in Law. They are not Martha's parents so the term here is being used to denote step son I think. His mother has either re-married or William was illegitimate and was born before she married.
This I think will be Martha in 1841 living in Frieston where she was born.

I have found the marriage certificate for William Gostelow and Martha Williamson in 1848, his name was spelt very badly.
I am still trying to work out why he was living with James and Mary Jackson in 1851 in Lincolnshire and later used the surname Jackson in Yorkshire. William's father was called William and Martha was the daughter of either a Henry or a William Williamson.
Is it possible William was married to the Jackson daughter before, or William's mother remarried?

For all,
Susan Gostelow had 4 children and died young in 1898, her story is well known to me.
It is her Grandfather...William's father that is the sticking point. William's age and surname variations make this tricky.
Susan used to go to Bundoran in Ireland with her Yorkshire husband, time and time again.
I appreciate all the interest.

The William and family ending with Eliza age 2 does not seem to fit, but thanks.

To Astra,
Thanks, there is a similarity here, especially Martha born in Frieston. I think there is a family link but might just be relations. I need the Birth certificate or Baptism of William son of James and Mary to check this out further, but they are pre 1837 so am stuck without a trip to Lincoln archives.

To Flick,
I already have Susan's birth certificate, born November, 1865. William was an agricultural labourer, I think.
Thanks
To Vera,
The Susan aged 4 is possibly correct.
I already have Martha's birth certificate, born in April 1871.
I already have the Jackson details for Soothill Yorkshire. The father used an alias for personal reasons known to the family.
I am trying to find ancestors of William Gostelow, but there are several men of the same name
Thanks
Sheila

Help about my William Gostelow's ancestry, who occasionally called himself Jackson (in Yorkshire) it would be useful. His wife Martha was written as nee Williamson on his daughter Susan's birth certificate, but there may have been a Jackson connection.
I would very much like to find the marriage certificate for William Gostelow and Martha Williamson, but can't. Their daughter Susan was born in 1865; there was possibly a son/stepson Edward born about 1854 and George in 1862 all in Boston, Lincs.
