Hi! Looking for information on the gypsy family of Michael Saunders/Sanders (b.1823/25 Tigners Heath, Sussex) and Delilah Lee (bapt.26 Oct 1823 in Kingsworthy, Hampshire). They were travellers in Hampshire/Sussex/Middlesex/Dorset. Married 20 Jan, 1840 in Portsea, Hampshire. They had quite a few children - names and baptisms as follows: Athaliah (1840); Job (1845); Noah (1847); Emma (1866), Walter (1850); Alderia (1845); Georgina (1863); Elizabeth (1856); Marleana (1858); George (1861); Agnes (1859); Joseph (1853); Humphries; (William (1856). Any information would be greatly appreciated! Best wishes, Antonia |

Ann, you are a star! Thank you so much for all that information! :-))) The family is tricky, as I'm not sure that they kept the same names throughout their lives. Ah, the thrill of the chase! Thank you again, and good luck with your own research. Best wishes, Antonia |

Thank you, Kath! :-) Yes, this is the same family - quite WHAT the census transcribers were thinking, I don't know. *g* Thanks so much for the this, and good luck with your ancestor hunting! Best wishes, Antonia |

Thank you, Linda! It was very kind of you to look this up for me. :-)) As I said to Kath, I don't know *what* those transcribers were thinking, or maybe they were just putting it all down phonetically as they understood the accent. It's a fascinating family, so am digging up all I can.... Good luck with your tree research, and thanks again. :-) Best wishes, Antonia |

Thanks, Dea! Yes, I'm working my way round the romanygenes site, and have had a very helpful response from someone on the forum there who had Delilah and Michael's marriage certificate and other very helpful information. :-) I've also joined the Romany and Traveller Family History Society, so shall be delving yet further. Many thanks!! Best wishes, |
