Hi
I have an Edward Gerard Hughes born around 1833 in Salford. I cannot locate him on IGI. I am unaware of any siblings.

I have Edward well tracked in Whitehaven from 1861 until 1901 when he died. Though I have no convincing find for him in 1841 and 1851.

On Edwards marriage certificate in 1861 he names his father as William Hughes (deceased) an Accountant, which is also Edwards basic trade before going into stock broking.

I know nothing more of William nor his wife name.

Love to see any thoughts on finding Edward in 1841 and 1851 or if a viable William can be located. I have of course looked at some length but hoping a 3rd pair of eyes may help.

Many thanks
Jon

Many thanks Ginny

Hadn't spotted that south bound Hughes. Certainly viable.

My greater desire is to pin down his father William. But I've tried in vein to locate an accountant type in 1841 census.

4 x William Hughes died pre-1841 in Salford on the death index after 1837 which would be a last gasp GRO shot in dark. Though of course he could have passed before 1838.
