I spotted this thread just now and, when I checked back, realised I had first sent this gentleman a message on how to find his replies in October last year. The reply I received was :

I know that just havent been online much lately

Trevor, if you would like the volunteers to help you, then it's much more beneficial to you if you could :

a) stay around after posting a message so that you can have some dialogue with the helpers. If you keep disappearing, people lose interest and concentrate on other threads.

b) remember to be polite and grateful for any help given.

impolite posting here - no "please" and no "thank you" Whatever happened to good manners?

Errr ... a little ungracious of you to say the least.

One could say "So much for incorrect information in the first place "
(........ Married a Sarah Ann Davey 1874 ) !

Trevor

Trevor Report 16 Aug 2010 21:14

The marriage was 1873 in Shortland Thame New Zealand
Certificate doesnt give either of their parents names

ChristineinPortugal Report 18 Jul 2010 07:07

There doesn't appear to be a marriage registered in 1874.

Do you have the certificate?

There is this baptism for a William Henry CHAPPLE

London, England, Births and Baptisms, 1813-1906

Name: William Henry Chapple
Record Type: Baptism
Date: 24 Sep 1856
Father's Name: James Chapple
Mother's Name: Eliza Chapple
Parish: St Alfege
Borough: Greenwich
County: Middlesex

Born:- 27 Aug 1856
Address:- Coombe farm
Father occupation:- Labourer

but if you get his death certificate ..... I believe Australian and NZ certiicates contain a lot more information than Englihs and Welsh ones ....... and would even tell you the names of his parents.

OR his marriage certificate would have his father's name

as it is we are floundering around in the dark

I suggest you get either his marriage certificate or his death certificate before making any more speculative trips into looking for a black cat in a coal cellar!!

Trevor

I would point out to you that the spelling that Joan has posted is the spelling as found on a document on line

as you will find, most of our ancestors were illiterate, and spelling mistakes are rife

added to which enumerators, registrars and, yes, today's transcribers can all make mistakes.

The way you responded was unnecessary and rude.
