Hi All. Looking for some help after a long-time dead end.
I have the birth certificate listing my GGF's parents as Emma Salt and Henry Turner in 15/1/1876 in Walsall. I have their marriage certificate from 25/9/1865. I can find Henry and Emma on the 1881 census through IGI as living in Walsall, Henry aged 42 in Walsall with his birthplace shown as Leicester. Would it be possible for anyone with a little more experience than me , and/or access to Leicester records to see if they can find any more references to him? I don't have a DOB or know who his parents were. Would be really grateful for any help.
Many Thanks Paul

Possible in view of location but yhe name is just too common - you really need the marriage cert for his father's name (he does have same occupation though - coal miner):

I agree with brummiejan. Especially as Henry is a coal miner.

Wow 10 replies. I'm overwhelmed and very very grateful. Perhaps it's what happens when you make posts at midnight after a long trawl, but I missed off a lot of info on my original post. Right ! Marriage Certificate is at 25/9/1865 at St Michael's Church , Rushall (walsall really) in the County of Stafford.Marriage of Henry Turner and Emma Salt, both age "full" Bachelor and Spinster, He a miner, she a lock maker, resident in Ryecroft (Walsall) .Father of Groom is Thomas Turner (Deceased), occupation Miner, and Father of the Bride is Ephraim Salt ( the only one ever?) who is a bricklayer. So it is Thomas, just can't find anything prior to this marriage certificate.
Ozi - Looks like you have something, but why would they be living in different houses?
To all of you , many thanks for time and energies.
Is there a charity you guys support where people can give a donation in lieu of thanks or anything??

Paul, I don't think they were living in different houses. I think the enumerator made a mistake when filling in his form.

Paul
I have seen several times that members of families on the 1841 have been separated, with the children apparently living alone.
There are 2 reasons for this
...... one is that the modern day transcriber of the record made a mistake,
...... the second is that the enumerator at the time made a mistake in either taking down the information or in transferring the information from the sheets on which he originally collected the information into the census book for the whole area.
We're all members just like yourself, maybe with a bit more experience, and with subscriptions to other sites.
I think it is fair to say that all of us love the hunting down of ancestors ...... the trickier the better sometimes!
You're likely to get a fast response no matter what time of day you post a request ...... at midnight it will be mainly from people from overseas like myself in Canada or Ozi in Australia (of course!!), plus the odd UK insomniac!
We do it because we want to ........ all we ever ask is a thank you!
