Vera thanks for the offer, but I am beginning to think my GF was in Scotland on census night as he lived right on the border and I know they all moved back and forth for work. So I'll wait til Scotland comes . It is sheer curiosity as I know where he was in 1901 and also when he married in 1911.

He was very difficult like yours as he was reg in one name but baptised and called another!

I have their marriage certificate.......Sorry my error ........their marriage was September 1911

George Frederick James Sinclair married Vera Holt there is no "A"

Vera found marr now but it is reg in Sept Q and not Dec Q. Have you got the actual cert with all your grandfather's names?

Unfortunately she has been under HOLE/HOLT on different census.
This ancestors certainly don't help!!!!!

I am wondering if maybe I will never find either of them...

Hi Jennifer,

Vera and Annie Maud are the same person.....

My grandfathers name is George Frederick James Sinclair born Greenwich 1884

Vera so are you saying that Annie Maud and Vera A are the same person?.

I just put the surname Holt in with dob and pob and Edward was the only one that came up.

What was your grand father's name?

Christine thanks for looking but unfortunately not her........

The only thing I can think is she was a suffragette, thats why I cannot find her.

I was so looking forward to the 1911...but cannot find either grandparents....grrrrrrr

Maud Annie Hoad as above is daughter of William Hoad a farmer.

By the way I cannot find a marriage in Dec 1911 for a Vera A Holt

so far this is the only Holt b c 1892 Sydenham he is a boarder at the Three Tumes Inn, Steyning/landlord James Taylor

HOLT, Edward Boarder Single M 17 1894 Labourer General Sydenham Kent

also in same place

MILLER, George Boarder Single M 23 1888 Labourer General Sydenham Kent

I have looked and looked !!!!!

Born...... Annie Maud HOLT....1892.......Sydenham

Mother dead by 1911..............
Father living with another daughter..Rosina Erswell.........

fathers name Edward HOLT....... Although born Edwin James HOLE


On the 1901 she is living with her uncle Charles F HOLE although mistranscibed as STOLE

When she married my grandfather in December 1911 she was named Vera A Holt.



Just to let you know I cannot find my grandfather either !!!!!!!
