By the way, if you search the internet for mccloskey londonderry, you will see there are still people of that surname in Derry.

Thanks again both of you. Now I better get back to it and give you a break before I get us all thrown of the site

Have a feeling that most of the family (the three youngest never married) left for either Eire or Scotland but will try I did have a cousin whose name I know!

Would be very grateful for any polite suggestions for this query please!

I have found someone on this site who has at least 4 connections with me. The McCloskey side that is. After 3 polite requests to this person I'm getting no response. I realise that sometimes people are looking for ancestors rather than living relatives (I recently re-discovered a long lost cousin and was a bit taken aback. Pleasantly so!) Could there be another reason this person seems reluctant? I'd put money on there being a connection to me?

Thank you in advance.......hopefully

Maureen

Hi Maureen,

do you know if the messages have been opened? You can check by going to messages and then looking at SENT messages... if there is still a purple envelope next to there name then the message hasn't been opened and read.

Hi Dee

Just looked at the most recent one it has not been opened. The others go back a while and I had so much stuff that I deleted it. Bad move probably. I'd more or less given up until this person uploaded the lady I think is (was) my aunt on the 5th August. Before that I was even more of a beginner than I am now and it's been suggested that some people change their email addresses and don't let GRU know?

thanks for the tip though, it's such a shame though!
