Thanks Fanny..... I thought that was probably the answer but worth a try. I'm a bit spasmodic in my searching at the mo. but in time will have more time. Today has been great, finding all that extra info. will spur me on to the next find. Thanks to you all.

Nope.

We are all Family History nutters(hoobyists) that like to do this.

I do it for the satisfaction of maybe solving something for someone and I enjoy the chase.
Its a bit like cryptic crosswords to me.

And to keep me out of trouble..:)

To find people related to you (maybe) you need to "search trees" on here and Ancestry.

you folk are amazing, next question - are any of you related to me?

FannyByGaslight Report 10 Jul 2010 12:20

Just because it says that on her birth it does not mean they were married.

She may have lied or he went to the office with her to reg Muriel.

Many "marriages"were the figment of the mothers imagination.

It is definately Jinman on the 1911 image, as Barbara says..

Patricia

Patricia Report 10 Jul 2010 12:13

I have the birth certifcate which shows Amelia as Formerly Jinman so assume a marriage took place. Father shown as George Christian - Private Detective. I'll have a look at the marriage for Amelia/Hubbard. Thanks.

This certainly looks to be the same family. Not aware of Howard Douglas though the name Douglas is the 2nd name of my father, brother and now his children too. So it looks to be good. I have come across Grisman previously but need to refresh my thoughts on that one.

Sounds like Patricia only has the short version of Muriel's birth certificate.
You would need to get the full version to see what details it gives for parents names.
They could well not have been married, especially as it looks like Amelia married under her maiden name in 1912 to Mr. Hubbard

Well done Barbara.

That sure has to be them...

Does it not give Muriels fathers occupation on her birth cert?

Really trying to trace either surname but primarily Christian. I don't know if Olive had siblings. I have birth certificate for Muriel showing - Birth 38 Douglas Road, Willesden, Hendon, Middlesex. England. No other info. on her parents at all sadly. Thanks for such quick responses.

Hi Patricia

There is this in 1911 census !!! It does look to say JINMAN on the image for the father

Do you know if Muriel had a brother Douglas ?

Not at that Douglas Road address in 1901 Jonesey.

I just checked.

Jonesey

Jonesey Report 10 Jul 2010 11:49

Muriels birthplace according to a tree on Ancestry:

Birth 38 Douglas Road, Willesden, Hendon, Middlesex. England

There is a problem however. There was no 1911 census return for that particular address although all the neighbouring properties are represented.

So what is the surname here please?
Jinman or Christian?

Hmm.
Christian then I guess.

Births Dec 1900
Christian Muriel Olive Hendon 3a 210

Do you have the parents marriage for their ages and Georges occupation please?

Dont see a marriage for them on Freebmd.

Are there any siblings for Muriel?

Patricia

Patricia Report 10 Jul 2010 11:27

Trying to find George Christian who was married to Amelia Christiana Jinman. They had a daughter Muriel Olive (my grandmother) born 1900 in Wilsden Hendon. I have not been able to trace them in either 1901 or 1911 census.
