ancestry.co.uk gives access to things like phone books which are handy for addresses, 192.com has electoral registers which may be helful. They are both paid sites however.

ER's record those eligible to vote - limited franchise up to around 1930 - over-21 thereafter, until 1969.

BUT.........you would have to know the address for any search to be made....which would be at the main library for the area.

thank you!

why do the census stop at 1911?

The census still goes on but in the UK there is a 100-year gap before you can view it (1911 has been brought forward a bit for England, Wales and Northern Ireland).
So 1921 will be available by 2021.
As said above, you then have to rely on electoral registers and birth, marriage and death certs for addresses.

To go back further - to find out Martha's surname for instance - you need one of the birth certs of one of their children.

If Albert Henry is your direct ancestor then his birth cert would give you both parents' full names - that way you'd be able to find the marriage. The address should also help in tracking them in the censuses.

In a word, no. The 1921 census will not be available for at least another 10 years.

I wonder if your William b 1906 was actually William Clarence and later known as Clarence? Have sent details of marriage to an Emma and possible birth of Barry

Name: William Clarence Cooper
Year of Registration: 1906
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
District: Walsall
County: Staffordshire
Volume: 6b
Page: 712

Thanks - But you need the certifcates to be sure. I couldn't find his birth post 1911 so the only other option was that he was already born.

Good Luck Kay
