The Jane Strode to whom you refer is in my family tree so it looks as though my Grandmother (who was both a Strode and a Patch) may have got confused as to which branch of her family were related to the Russells. This is particularly gratifying since the daughter of Roy William Russell and Geraldine Jacobi was none other than Ernestine Russell who is better known by her middle name of Jane and is a Hollywood movie legend. My Gran always said she was a relative of ours but until now I never knew how so thank you all so much.

My Grandmother's name was Kate Strode and she was born in North Down, Haselbury, Somerset in 1909. Her mother's name was Mary Anne Patch and she was born in Haselbury Plucknett in 1871. The Russell family I am interested in is that of Roy William Russell who was born in North Dakota in 1890. His wife's name was Geraldine (nee Jacobi) and she was also born in North Dakota in 1891. Her mother's name was Amelia Hyatt and she was born in Canada in 1875. Amelia was a popular Patch name then.

Firstly post your grandmothers name and approx birth, you know her mothers maiden name was Patch so hopefully this should get us back to 1911 or 1901.

2. If you know your grandmothers fathers name post that too and this will give a good starting point and then let's see were we can go from here
