we have another gale on its way

it's raining hard here at the moment, but the wind has not yet got strong.

However, it is on its way ............ various ferry sailings have been cancelled since early this morning, as the Gulf of Georgia (between us and Vancouver Island) is having very high winds

Yes, it's a scam Jonesey. One time I had a similar call I got them all confused by asking......"computer? What computer? who said I had a computer?" :-D :-D :-D

Trust me Gins.....it would take more than a few wacky phone calls to see me orf..........you don't know what I've dealt with in the past!!! ;-)

Oh yes......sorry, out at the weekend.......what a shame........hahahahaha

Anyway, why would I want your virus........tis very generous of you to share your germs around but I will forego the pleasure thank you.

Cyn,

Apparently the "We're from computer Blah Blah" and have detected that your computer has multiple viruses ect is a scam. It was featured on the BBC 1 program earlier this week.

What they said is likely to happen is that they get the gullible to open up their computer to them by visiting their website to download some "Anti-virus" or "Virus removal" software. It appears that it is actually a keylogger program which is capable of monitoring and uploading what the computer user types. That of course could include passwords to bank accounts or credit card details.

I had a call from one of them a few days ago and on that occasion I asked the Asian sounding caller whether his mother knew that he told lies before I eventually told him to p-off.

Rob,

Food for thought.

Gee Report 24 Nov 2011 18:33

Charming......think I might add Cyns details to one of the marketing companies, sit back and laugh my #### orf :-P

Something like this could kill an old bird like you Cyns......by the way, are you in over the weekend, thought I might pop round :-D

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 24 Nov 2011 18:18

This happened to me last night Jonesey..............it was one of those 'We're from computer maintenance' calls. I simply put the phone down on the worktop above the washing machine - which was switched on! A few seconds later, the line was clear.

I don't get as many as I used to though - I registered with The Telephone Preference Service .... www.tpsonline.org.uk

So you have a virus Gins? Poor thing.

The poor virus I mean.

:-P

Phone Put Downs

If you are like me you receive roughly 3/4 telephone calls a day either trying to sell you something (Insurance or Health care) or trying to encourage you to make a claim against someone or some organisation in respect of a non-existent personal injury or the current favourite, mis-sold payment protection insurance. This is despite, in my case, having an ex-directory telephone number.

Needless to say these calls are an annoyance. I have a few stock replies that I pass on to the unsolicited caller ranging from a polite "No Thank You" to a not so polite 2 word, 7 letter phrase meaning "Go Away". I also have a few put downs that I use on occasion such as, "Couldn't you get a proper job then?" or "Does your mother know that you tell lies for a living?".

I thought it would be interesting to hear how others respond to these intrusions and perhaps learn of a few more put downs that I can add to my repertoire.

I await your comments and hopefully your put downs.
